Clippings: “Resistance in the Trump Administration?” (Sept. 8, 2018)

————————————–QUOTE OF THE DAY———————————————–

“So much of our politics, our public life, our public discourse, can seem small and mean
and petty, trafficking in bombast and insult, in phony controversies and manufactured
outrage. It is politics that pretends to be brave, but in fact is born of fear.”

-Barack Obama

I’ve been out of the country this past week, but paying close attention to the events that
put the future of our country in jeopardy. Here are a few:

Resistance in the Trump Administration? The big news this past week is
the NY Times anonymous op ed piece, which many readers of these Clippings
forwarded to me: “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.”

The message from the writer? “Many Trump appointees have vowed to do
what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s
more misguided impulses until he is out of office.”

Future historians will see this is a critical event in the story of our time.

Woodward Book. Bob Woodward’s profile of the Trump Regime, Fear: Trump
in the White House, will be indispensable reading for future historians. Here’s a response
from a conservative Republican commentator: “President Trump is unfit for office.
Bob Woodward’s ‘Fear’ confirms it.” by By Max Boot (Washington Post) (Article attached) at:
